This post was supposed to be a list of all the paint colours, wallpapers and flooring choices I made for this house. But then I got distracted by the sun shining through the window and the leaves budding on the trees outside and saw the lemon vase (below) and suddenly I wanted to look at things to refresh my rooms rather than looking back at what I had already done. So, that post will come next week and it will be free to all. In the meantime, let’s dive into some gorgeous homewares, every single one of which – if I had a bottomless budget and elastic walls – I would buy . Shall we start with the aforementioned vase?

1 YOU’RE SO GOLDEN FRUITS PLANTER
This has the look of a vintage pot that you might pick up at a brocante in France. I love the fact that it’s all one colour rather than painted, which would look less impressive (by which I mean expensive), and while I can find yellow tricky, this is a real burst of joy all year round. I’m also quite enjoying using just leaves and foliage rather than flowers these days and this, arguably, looks better with a simple burst of green rather than competing with a rainbow of petals. Styling note: if you don’t have lots of storage then always buy vases and pots that look as good empty as they do full and that way you won’t mind having them on display.
2 MEDIUM CONTRAST MULTI HANDLE VASE
I have been doing some styling work for Marks & Spencer and I have to say their ceramics game is strong. Both these cost £15 and they’re brilliant for affordable high street purchases. Yes, they have definitely been inspired by others but if you don’t have a few hundred to spend on a hand-thrown pot then these are a pretty good alternative. There are some great cushions this season as well.
3 PATTERNED PLANT POT AND SAUCER
Stripes, as Charlie said to Lola in the children’s books, is nice – and they really are. I love the orange version although be aware that this is one of those classic things that turns out smaller in real life. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought accessories, measured them and then been surprised when they arrive. This is only 11cm tall. It’s in the kids’ section. I do wish it was bigger but it’s a great pen pot or desk accessory nonetheless. I’m not a fan of tiny plants, so I wouldn’t use it for that but (styling note) it’s great for toothbrushes, pens or even, if you block up the drainage hole, olives, as you can use the saucer for the stones.
