Design Decoded 2
In which we look at a series of rooms to understand how the decor works so we can apply it to our own places and spaces
For this month’s Design Decoded I’ve opened the door on a semi-detached Victorian house in south-east London – and while it’s on the market for an eye-watering £2.65m with Inigo, there are so many ideas we can apply to our own homes that I thought it was worth a wander round. Also nice pictures. And if gazing at lovely pictures of rooms with a cup of coffee on a Wednesday morning doesn’t float your boat you may, dare I say it, be in the wrong place.
Read on to discover the secrets of colour drenching, how to highlight original features and disguise modern ones, make rooms feel bigger, and use colour and wallpaper to make the most of your own walls and ceilings.
Coincidentally, this house also addresses two of the issues that came up in the first Drop-in Design Clinic for [aid subscribers. So Amy, this one’s for you – and since we’re here, let’s start with the gorgeous sitting room.
