Design Postcards: Lerici
Five minutes from one of Italy's most gorgeous beaches, this stunning apartment is for sale – and the price has just been reduced.
Lerici is located at the southern tip of Italy’s Cinque Terre, on the Gulf of the Poets near La Spezia, Liguria. It’s less well known than the crowded hotspots of Amalfi and Positano but no less romantic. Dante, DH Lawrence, Shelleys (Mary and Percy Bysshe) and Byron all fell in love with this stretch of coastline. Percy drowned here returning on a boat from a trip to Livorno during a storm. Botticelli is said to have painted his Venus here (nearby villages Fezzano and Portovenere both lay claim to be the actual setting).
This free post is one of two postcards I send every month from anywhere in the world with an interesting design story. I’m heading to Mexico City soon so there will definitely be one from there. Coming up for paid subs is an interview with former Vogue Director of Fashion and founder of uber cool shopping site Collagerie Lucinda Chambers on posh dusting, following trends and decorating with colour. Next month I will be speaking to Beata Heuman so do sign up if you do…
