Let's Talk... Styling

What's the difference between clutter and a collection? How do you mix colour and pattern? Why must you ensure your room is having a party? And when do you stop the music?

Every month I host a live video session with Lisa Dawson which is free to watch for everyone. So far we have tackled lighting, buying vintage, and choosing art. For paid subscribers I later create a post highlighting the main points we have discussed, adding links and images and anything else I might have forgotten to say in the ramble of an unscripted conversation. This is also for those who prefer to read than watch. And of course it passes into the archive, where you can access it forever, along with everything else I have written over the years.

This month it’s all about styling. What is the difference between a collection and clutter? How to display said collection. Why three is the magic number but two might ease your brain. If you have ever wondered how to make the most of your shelves, surfaces and sideboards, then this post is for you.

Let’s start with the first point: how to make your stuff look like it’s a deliberate collection and not a load of old clutter.
