1 There is no substitute for time spent on research.

That's what happens when you don't have time to shop and/or to seek out the best prices. I'm often asked how to save money when it comes to furnishing our homes and the truth of the matter is that time is your best friend. You need to be able to set aside a couple of hours to search online or days to visit antique fairs and car boot sales. If you're in a hurry then you're just going to throw money at the nearest department store and be done with it. If it really matters to you then take the time to look for it and to find the best deals.
