THE DESIGN SHOPPER: Leanne Kilroy, Good Bones London
Each Friday, a special guest brings their expertise to Mad About The House. This week the American interior designer shares her best interiors buys – and top tips.
Leanne is an interior designer, American Londoner, home cook, mother of three and oversharer over on Instagram @goodboneslondon and on Substack at The Good Bones Life. I mention her citizenship only as I know a lot of you are American which means that Leanne will bring an innate understanding of your places and spaces in a way that I, living in small dark Victorian terrace, perhaps don’t. On that note, she offers both virtual and in-person design consulting and occasionally takes on larger projects when everything lines up. Her approach to design is to create a space that makes sense for the building, the location and the family living there – KWS
Here are Leanne’s top sources for both her own home and projects she works on:
1. Vintage Lighting
I love perusing eBay, Vinterior, online sellers and shops like Agapanthus Interiors for vintage lighting (see last week’s interview with Sandrine Zhang, the founder of Vinterior). After the architectural layout, I think lighting is the most important part of the design of a home.
In so many cases, vintage lighting can add that extra little thing to a project that provides both depth and purpose in one. Vintage pendants over dining tables come to mind; I’ve long been a fan of mid-century pendants hung low and intimate over a table.
