Please can you do an article on candles. I am always curious as to why some cost so much? I am a lover of lighting a lovely candle in the evening, but I do not want to light something that is doing me harm. Curtains? Blinds? Still a dilemma for me.
The Domino article was interesting as I have never seen your Italian kitchen before. Amazing sink! Was that in the house already? And how on earth did you manage to get the Mad Husband to agree to the skirtain beneath it!!!
I really enjoy these posts with a mix of all sorts.
Hi Mandy, sorry not to reply sooner. So we found the sink at a reclamation yard and got slightly carried away by the romance of it. It's insanely heavy and very rough on the inside so we have a dishwasher for actual washing up! The Mad Husband felt that a skirtain was appropriate in Italy but not in London!
Fab post, thank you. Going to get a copy of CONCLAVE right now!
The Vogue documentary is brilliant. And it also beautifully illustrates the idea that you should furnish your home as you dress - some of the interviewees are completely co-ordinated with their homes.
Yes I have two types of curtain summer and winter but I tuck the winter linens just behind the radiator in the evening when it’s dark and we need the heat inside
I line the wall behind the radiator with a piece of reflective roll so the heat does not just warm an outside wall
Trim the bottom of those long curtains on a line just above uneven floors I have had the current curtains for 40 years in two homes with beautiful sash windows and as long as you remember left and right sides when you replace after a wash or dry clean all is fine

hi Anne, I am not a candle expert but I can try and research. Curtains or blinds - I'll do a post...
