Where is it being shown? I.E. Netflix, Amazon Prime etc or regular TV? I can barely remember the book and it wasn’t one of my favourites of the Rutshire set, but it would still be fun to watch.
Oh that's vexing. I know people do things where they sign up for a month and then cancel. It's £4.99 with ads and £8.99 without. Or £89.99 for the year - Substack is cheaper!
We used to have Netflix thanks to bro in law’s friends and family allowance, but Netflix stopped allowing that, then we signed up to Prime in order to watch the Grand Tour (old Top Gear team with Jeremy Clarkson), but I’ve no idea really what else there is on it - there’s so much on regular TV, I can’t see any point in paying for more than one thing extra, or even at all! It’s just pot luck which you choose really.
I am a millennial, not GenX bur can wholeheartedly say, three episodes in, that I am LOVING it! Yes it's cheesy, but the costumes and sets are fabulous, as is the soundtrack. I'm also curious about Lizzie and her relationships as she is the biggest enigma (at least at this point in the series).
Interesting - I may need to re-read the books but I feel - from my memory of the books at least - as if she was there, not to be an enigma but just, to be the actually only nice grown-up in the room and a friend to Taggie! I'm only two eps in so maybe her role has expanded a little in the tv version.
As I recall it’s basically because they don’t fancy each other - or he doesn’t fancy her - so they can be more honest with each other as there’s no agenda which he always has with everyone else.
I had a stinking cold this weekend, so I took to my sofa with my laptop and Lemsip, and watched the whole eight episodes... but where is the rest of it!!?!
I remember seeing an awful, very low-budget rendition of Riders many years ago, but the cast here was amazing, and the production values clearly very high. It was glorious to look at.

It’s on Disney + x
Thanks! I only have Prime, so I won’t be watching it after all.

Or maybe I'm reading into it too much, but everyone else's relationship is so OBVIOUS,whereas eg her relationship with Rupert seems more nuanced

I think there are only 8 episodes. But someone else said it vanished. Maybe the ending has been left so they can make a second series?
There are plenty more books - I think ‘Polo’ and ‘The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous’ would work really well too. Absolutely loving it too
