This was one of the best things you’ve written. Great analysis, loads of transferable tips, really witty. ❤️

Wouldn’t it be great if they read your comments and took it on board?! And we all saw a photo in 6 month’s time. But then, of course, there’d be an uproar over spending money etc etc..

Thank you! Once again. I love how you decode rooms. I look at it and also think, what a disaster, but couldn’t tell you what to do to fix it. Other than starting afresh!

My added two cents- Sofa cushions changed from 3 to 2 covered in either a mohair velvet or a good Scottish wool.Cushions in velvet or small discreet pattern with good quality short fringe. Main rug is beyond redemption, a second hand alternative would be cheap as chips. Cabinet next to door needs to justify its existence. Possibly re-hang the paintings as over crowded and lack pleasant symmetry. Wall colour more simpatico with the paintings and room generally. Chandelier is giving 80’s country hotel chain vibes, it needs to go, the nation must own a decent replacement currently hanging somewhere or in storage..Worse case we can organise a collection :) Round table to swap to corner on the right where chair is (that needs to go) and have height appropriate objects of interest or colour and possibly a lamp. Some size appropriate vases with good flower arrangements, foliage please and yes to ottoman, lamps at least at one end of both the sofas on end tables, the tops of which are a material that contrasts with all the wood. All tongue in cheek :) xx

Think this is also a good illustration of the problem with the big light. This room is crying out for lamps!
