I love the individual circular gardens, but as each is hidden behind a thick hedge, I can’t see much community going on. I imagine there’s more of a community feel on an allotment where the plots are open. But then they are more geared to veggie growing, and these are about flowers and just enjoying the garden as much as for veg plots. Love both styles, and very photogenic from above. I’ve been zooming in on the first photo looking at the individual design of each garden!
I've always loved these round gardens. Many architects say that the circle is the perfect shape for the ideal city - as each round fills up, rather than expanding, you create a new round - a satellite - nearby. That's why Venice feels perfect - human-sized, you can reach everything within a certain amount of time - and no cars, of course.
We can do this here in the UK of it was considered at planning stage. In Marlborough where I live we have a close of houses built before ww1 which are all facing one another with a community garden in the centre. It’s a very special place.
they look magical and charming from above, but I can come up with a lot of boring questions about the experience of living in either of these communities!
Thought provoking for a Monday morning.
I’d love to hear from the people who live there , I wonder what the reality is .
Lovely gardens

Where’s the rest of my text? Is there a limit to how much you can type? I was saying, zooming in on each individual garden - fascinating!

They’re so cool. I’d never seen them before. Interesting thought re Venice.

I love these. Such a clever joined up way of designing space for people.
What a lovely couple of postcards!
